WKRB 90.3 FM is Kingsborough Community College’s dynamic FM radio station, licensed at 10 Watts by the FCC. We broadcast 24/7, featuring a vibrant Rhythmic Top 40 format that includes high-energy Pop, Urban, and Latin music. Ready to start your broadcasting journey? Follow these simple steps to become a WKRB member and get on the air!

Check Eligibility
- Current KCC student
- GPA of 2.0 or higher
- Open to all fields of study
- No prior radio experience required

Attend Info Session
Join us for an information session to learn about WKRB, meet current members, and get all your questions answered. Check our schedule or contact us for upcoming dates.

Complete Application
Fill out the WKRB membership application form. Make sure to include all required information and submit it to our office or via email.

Schedule Training
Work with our training coordinator to schedule your hands-on training sessions. Training is scheduled around your class schedule for convenience.

Get Certified
Complete all training modules and pass your on-air observation. Once certified, you’ll be assigned your weekly one-hour time slot!

Get Your Music on WKRB
We’re always looking for fresh music from talented artists! Submit your tracks for consideration to be played on WKRB 90.3 FM.
1. File Format Requirements
- Accepted formats: MP3 (320 kbps preferred) or WAV files.
- Files must be direct-downloadable via links (e.g., Google Drive, Dropbox, or similar).
- Download links must not require registration, login, or passwords for access. Submissions that require extra steps to access files may not be considered.
2. Metadata Requirements
- Ensure all tracks include proper metadata (artist name, song title, album name, and release year).
- Submissions missing metadata may not be considered.
3. Content Standards
- Submissions must be clean and radio-friendly (no explicit language or inappropriate themes).
- If submitting clean versions of explicit songs, label them clearly (e.g., “Radio Edit”).
4. Genre and Style
WKRB accepts a wide variety of genres, but tracks must align with our station’s style and audience preferences.
5. Copyright and Ownership
- You must own the rights to the music or have explicit permission from the copyright holder to submit it.
- WKRB reserves the right to request documentation if needed.
6. Contact Information
- Include your name, artist/band name, email, and phone number.
- If you have social media handles or an EPK (Electronic Press Kit), include those as well.
7. File Naming Convention
Name files in this format: ArtistName_SongTitle.mp3 or ArtistName_AlbumName_TrackNumber.wav.

What is WKRB-FM?
WKRB 90.3 FM is the student-run radio station of Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn, NY. Licensed by the FCC at 10-watts, we’ve been broadcasting since 1978, providing a platform for students to gain hands-on experience in radio broadcasting while delivering diverse music, news, and talk programs to our audience.
How can I listen to WKRB?
You can listen to WKRB at 90.3 FM in the southern portion of Brooklyn or stream us online at wkrbapp.kingsborough.edu. We’re also available on the KBCC Mobile App. We broadcast 24/7, bringing you the best in Rhythmic Top 40 music along with specialty programs.
Can I host my own show on WKRB?
Yes! Once you complete our training program and have been with the station for a semester doing on-air work and news updates, you can submit a proposal for a specialty show. Our management team will evaluate your demo and consider it for approval. Students may work together on specialty shows, which typically air evenings and weekends.
How do I join the WKRB Radio Club?
To join WKRB, you need to be a current KCC student with a GPA of 2.0 or higher. The club is open to all fields of study. Here’s how to join:
- Attend an information session
- Complete an application
- Schedule and complete training with our staff
- Get certified for on-air broadcasting

What kind of training will I receive?
Every new member must complete our training program where you’ll learn to operate mixers, microphones, and broadcasting software.
You’ll be taught how to structure radio programs, speak on-air, deliver news and weather, and engage with listeners.
Training sessions are scheduled around your classes, and at the end, you’ll be observed on air to ensure you’re ready to work independently.
What are the time commitments for WKRB members?
After completing training, members are expected to hold one on-air shift per week, which is one hour long.
You may also participate in various departments like Music, Production, Promotions, Public Service Announcements, and News & Sports, depending on your interests. As a real FM radio station, we value punctuality and reliability.

Our studios are located in Room U227, situated on the second floor of the College Center, directly above the cafeteria. We are conveniently positioned near the Hall of Flags, making us easy to find for students and visitors alike.
